Transferring to CCATCM

Acupuncture & TCM Program Transfer Credits

Already started your acupuncture or Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) studies elsewhere? Or perhaps you’re a healthcare professional looking to add acupuncture to your skills? CCATCM welcomes applications from transfer students. Here’s how the process works and what you need to know about transferring credits.

Continue Your Studies Here

We understand that circumstances change, and you might be looking to continue your education at a different institution. If you’ve completed relevant coursework at another recognized school or have a background in healthcare, you may be eligible to transfer credits towards a CCATCM diploma program.

Eligibility: Who Can Transfer?

We consider transfer applications from:

Students from Recognized Programs

Individuals who have completed coursework in acupuncture or TCM programs at recognized institutions, particularly those in Canada, the United States, China, Australia, or the United Kingdom.

Professionals such as Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, Nurses, and others with relevant healthcare training may receive credit for prior learning in areas like anatomy, physiology, or pathology.

How Transfer Credits Work

Our goal is to recognize your prior learning where it aligns with our curriculum, while ensuring you receive the comprehensive training CCATCM is known for.

What Can Be Transferred?

We assess courses for equivalency to our own curriculum. Only individual courses with a clear grade can be considered; combined courses are generally not eligible. The course content must closely match a corresponding course in the CCATCM program you’re applying to.

To be eligible for transfer credit, you must have achieved a passing grade of 70% or higher in the equivalent course.

This is important: To earn a diploma from CCATCM, you must complete at least 50% of the total required program hours physically at CCATCM. This ensures you fully benefit from our specific teaching methods, clinical training, and community environment, regardless of how many credits you transfer.

If transfer credits are approved, your tuition costs will be reduced accordingly. The reduction is calculated based on the academic hours associated with the credited courses (typically 15 hours equals one credit).

The final decision on granting transfer credits rests with the CCATCM Education Director after reviewing your documentation.

The Application Process for Transfer Credits

Applying for transfer credits has specific timing and requirements.

Timing is Key

You must apply for transfer credits at the same time you submit your initial application for admission to a CCATCM program. We cannot process transfer credit requests after you’ve been admitted or started the program.

Along with your main program application form and supporting documents (resume, essay, ID, etc.), you need to submit:

  • A completed Transfer Credit Application form (contact Admissions to obtain this).
  • Official transcripts from all previous post-secondary institutions where you completed relevant coursework.
The Education Director may request additional information to evaluate course equivalency, such as detailed course descriptions or syllabi from your previous institution.

Please note that an administrative fee may apply for processing transfer credit applications.

For Registered Health Care Practitioners (RHCPs)

We recognize the valuable knowledge and experience you bring. Transfer credits can help make your transition into acupuncture or TCM more efficient by potentially granting credit for foundational science courses you’ve already mastered. Our aim is to help you seamlessly integrate these new skills into your existing practice and scope of insurable services.

Ready to Make the Move?

Transferring involves careful planning. We encourage you to:

  1. Review our program curriculum to see how your previous coursework might align.
  2. If you have questions about potential credit transfers or the application process, contact our Admission Office before submitting your application. They can provide initial guidance based on your specific background.
  3. Apply early and ensure you submit your transfer credit request, all required documents, and your main application.

Let us help you continue your journey in holistic health at CCATCM.
