Exciting News! Applications Now Open for 2025 Admissions!
Your time at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (CCATCM) involves more than just attending lectures and studying textbooks. It’s about becoming part of a community, gaining practical skills in a real-world setting, and preparing for a fulfilling career in holistic health. We focus on creating an environment where rigorous learning meets genuine support.
Home Students Life
From day one, learning at CCATCM is interactive and practical.
You won’t just read about techniques; you’ll practice them. In early practical courses, like Dr. Li-Chen’s Acupressure Massage, students both give and receive treatments. This helps you understand acupuncture points, meridians, and energy flow directly. Our on-site student clinic is central to this experience, allowing you to work with real patients under supervision relatively early in your program.
Our unique Herb Room acts as a living laboratory with over 300 herbs you can see, touch, and learn about. The Herbal Dispensary provides further practical experience as students, guided by resident herbalists, learn about preparing and dispensing formulations.
We believe that learning happens best when you feel supported and connected.
Our class sizes are intentionally kept small. This means you can actually talk with your instructors, ask questions, and get personalized feedback. You’ll collaborate closely with your peers, building relationships that often last long after graduation, forming a valuable professional network.
Our students come from all walks of life, ranging in age from recent high school graduates to those embarking on a second career (ages 17 to 75 have attended). This mix of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives enriches classroom discussions and prepares you to work with diverse patient populations.
Our instructors and administrative staff operate with an open-door policy. Whether you need clarification on course material, help navigating financial aid, tutoring support, or just some guidance, we’re here to help you succeed.
We organize events throughout the year to build community and celebrate achievements. Our Chinese New Year celebration, for instance, brings students and staff together with performances and cultural activities.
Yes, we have a campus cat! Lily adds a unique touch of warmth and comfort, often found greeting students or relaxing in a sunny spot. She’s a small reminder of the friendly, welcoming atmosphere we cultivate
Our campus spans over 16,000 square feet on the Bedford Highway. It includes four main classrooms, dedicated clinic rooms for our student and professional clinics, a student lounge and kitchen area, and our herbal dispensary and herb room. The building itself, nestled with hills behind and the ocean basin in front, is considered to have good Feng Shui, contributing to a calm and healing energy.
Located in Bedford, we overlook the scenic Bedford Basin. It’s a peaceful, community-focused area just a 20-minute drive from the vibrant downtown core of Halifax, Nova Scotia’s capital. You get the benefit of a tranquil study environment with easy access to city amenities.
We provide spaces designed for both learning and student comfort.
Need a break? The student lounge offers a comfortable space to relax, study with peers, grab a bite to eat, or just unwind. We provide lockers for rent and a kitchen area to prepare meals, helping make the campus feel a bit more like home.
As mentioned, the student clinic and the herb room/dispensary are key parts of your practical training, integrated directly into the campus facilities.
Choosing where to study is a big decision. At CCATCM, we offer a unique blend of in-depth TCM education, extensive hands-on practice, and a genuinely supportive community. We invite you to experience it for yourself.
