This course introduces standard adult examinations, including history-taking and physical assessment techniques from a Western Medicine perspective. It also covers common laboratory diagnostics and the principles of differential diagnosis for frequently encountered clinical symptoms.
This course introduces Chinese herbs and nutrition, applying TCM principles to use common foods and herbs as medicine. It covers the preparation of medicinal teas, congee, soups, and other dishes, as well as the nature, taste, actions, and indications of individual herbs and foods. The course also explores TCM health preservation, prevention principles, and basic lifestyle practices for wellness.
Students will show grasp of fundamental counseling skills for TCM practice, clinician SEUS abilities, ethical framework, trauma-informed care, handling tough clients and topics, risk assessment, conflict resolution, and practitioner self care.
