Admissions Prerequisites

  1. To apply for diploma programs for career purposes, applicants must have:
    1. High school diploma or GED
    2. A sincere interest in acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, and the healing profession
  2. A completed application must include:
    1. A completed and signed application form
    2. An official copy of your high school transcript or diploma
    3. An updated copy of your resume
    4. A government issued ID
    5. An entrance essay:
      1. Why do you want to learn acupuncture, acupressure, and TCM, or natural nutrition counselor? Include your professional goals.
      2. How did you learn about CCATCM and the program?
      3. Why do you wish to attend CCATCM?
      4. What will you contribute to CCATCM’s learning environment?
    6. Successful admissions interview
    7. A $100 non-refundable application fee
      ($600 for international students applying for the acupuncture program)
      ($300 for international students applying for the natural nutrition counselling program)
  3. Upon acceptance into a program, students must submit:
    1. A $500 registration fee
      ($3000 for international students)
      (non-refundable, to be credited against tuition if accepted into the program)

Financial Assistance

New Nova Scotia student loan applications are available in May each year for those planning on attending a post-secondary institution. Applications are accessible online at studentloans.ednet.ns.ca

Should you not be a permanent resident of NS, having lived in the province for at least 12 consecutive months, you will need to apply for a student loan from the province in which you were previously living.

You must have your completed income forms at the time of completing your application. Once completed, please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

Transfer Students

Transfer students are welcome to apply for admission and a transfer of credits into the Acupuncture Diploma Program.

Students must submit an application for the transfer of credits with their program application when they initially apply for acceptance into any program. Students are not permitted to apply for or request any transfer credits after being accepted into or when any program begins.

Students who have earned credits in another recognized acupuncture program in Canada, the United States, China, Australia, and the UK (schools from other countries will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis) can transfer into CCATCM. Acupuncture transfer students must complete at least 50 per cent of their coursework at CCATCM to be eligible to receive a CCATCM diploma.

Students who have completed a Diploma of Acupressure at CCATCM can apply for admission directly into the Acupuncture Diploma Program and can transfer all credits without a transfer fee.

International Students

We are certified by Human Resource Development Canada as an educational institution and approved by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada as a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) to accept and offer education to foreign students to study in Canada. We are also registered with the Canada Revenue Agency and Toronto Municipal Licensing & Standards, which means that our students enrolled in the Diploma of Acupuncture may be eligible, if qualified, for loans, grants or swards granted under Nova Scotia student assistance, and that graduates can apply to write the PAN-Canadian exams to qualify for R. Ac titles.

Transfer of Credits

Students who have completed credits at another recognized college or university may apply for credit transfer only at the time of initial enrollment.

For transfer credit consideration, a student must submit an application and all transcripts indicating successful completion of relevant coursework with a passing grade of 70 per cent or higher. Students must submit an application for the transfer of credits with their program application (in writing) when they initially apply for acceptance into any program. Students are not permitted to apply for any transfer credits after they have been accepted into any program or after the program begins.

At the Education Director’s discretion, a student may also be required to submit additional course information such as a course description and syllabus.

To be considered for transfer credit, courses must match those offered in the Acupuncture Diploma Program. This is for single courses only – no combined courses. Each transfer course must have its own mark. Approval of a transfer credit is at the discretion of the college.

All deductions from approved transfer credits will lessen tuition costs per academic hour. Fifteen hours constitutes one credit. Administrative fees may apply for transfer credit applications.
